Hormonal IUD

The hormonal IUD is a contraceptive intrauterine device whose mechanism of action consists of releasing hormones called progestins. Specifically, the active agent of this contraceptive is the hormone levonorgestrel and is an effective way to prevent pregnancy, since its effectiveness is 98%.

This device is placed in the uterus and lasts between 3 and 5 years depending on the commercial product.
