Preventing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome

High responders to IVF meds are at risk of developing Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), which can expand to other body parts.

So, in order to prevent these complications from becoming worse, the only option would be to cancel the cycle if more than 15 oocytes are retrieved. Two options are possible:

  • Not taking the hCG trigger shot and cancelling the retrieval procedure
  • Inducing ovulation and cryopreserving the embryos
