What is a varicocele?

Varicocele is an enlargement of the veins of the testicle. This increases the overall temperature of the testicles, and therefore affects sperm production (spermatogenesis).

A varicocele can be unilateral or bilateral, that is, it can affect one or both testicles. Depending on this, its impact on male fertility can be more or less severe. The good news is that a varicocele can be removed through surgery.
