What is Myomectomy?

Myomectomy is a surgery whose purpose is the expiration of uterine fibroids, also known as leiomyomasand fibroids. This is a surgical technique that does not affect the uterus, so women can have children. This intervention is usually performed under general anesthesia.

There are two types of myomectomy:

Abdominal Myomectomy
se realiza una pequeña incisión en el abdomen, a través de la cual se extirpa el mioma. En estos caso, la mujer tardará alrededor de 46 semanas en recuperarse de la intervención.
Laparoscopic Myomectomy
small incisions are made externally and displayed by a fiber optic camera. This type of myomectomy requires less hospitalization time and recovery is usually about 1-2 weeks.

The method chosen by the specialist to remove a fibroid will depend on the size, location and quantity.
