In addition to first trimester screening, there is the option of prenatal screening after the 14th week of gestation. In this case, there are three types of biochemical screening for the second trimester of pregnancy:
- Dual test where the hormone AFP and Beta hCG are analyzed. This test has a detection rate of 60%.
- Triple test where, in addition to analyzing AFP and beta hCG, estradiol is also analyzed.
- Quadruple test in which the same hormones as in the triple test are studied together with Inhibin A. This type of biochemical screening offers a slightly higher detection rate compared to the other two, 75%.
