In an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, it must be kept in mind that the number of eggs extracted in the follicular puncture will rarely correspond to the number of embryos that will be obtained.

Of the eggs obtained after the puncture, it is necessary to subsequently evaluate those that have fertilized correctly. Of the latter, probably not all of them will be able to advance in their embryonic development and some of them will be blocked before giving rise to a blastocyst.

This is why it is very important to obtain a good quantity of eggs in the follicular puncture, but these eggs must also be of good quality.
