Ovulation is a phase of the menstrual cycle and occurs in the middle, around day 14 of the cycle. This phase is painful for some women, although it does not usually have serious consequences.
The advantage of painful ovulation is that the woman will know exactly when it is occurring. Therefore, the woman will be able to plan sexual intercourse on those days if she is seeking pregnancy, as the day of ovulation is the most fertile time for a woman.
