Women will find it more difficult to become pregnant as they get older. Not only does the quantity of oocytes (ovarian reserve) of the woman decrease, but their quality also decreases.
This implies that the oocytes will have a higher rate of chromosomal alterations, known as aneuploidies, which can lead to the birth of a baby with Down syndrome, for example, or to an increased rate of miscarriage.
