The possible risks that a woman may suffer during an IVF cycle are those derived from the ovarian stimulation and follicular aspiration performed to extract the eggs.
First of all, the hormonal drugs administered have side effects such as abdominal swelling, headache, nausea, etc. In the worst case, the woman may suffer from ovarian hyperstimulation causing great pain.
On the other hand, follicular puncture is a simple procedure that does not usually cause problems. However, a possible complication could occur when other pelvic organs are damaged, leading to pelvic haemorrhage and infection.
