Embryonic Development

After ovulation, a woman can become pregnant during the third week of the menstrual cycle by having unprotected sex. Male sperm travel to the female fallopian tubes, where they meet the egg and fertilization takes place. From this point on, the embryo begins to develop as it moves through the tube towards the uterus.
