Directed intercourse can be carried out by taking advantage of the natural cycle and controlling spontaneous ovulation or, conversely, by giving the patient hormonal medication to regulate the cycle.
The woman may receive only an hCG injection to induce ovulation, or she may also receive ovarian stimulation treatment to promote the growth and maturation of the eggs.
