IMSI stands for Intrcytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection. It is a modality of the ICSI technique that allows a better selection of spermatozoa by using a microscope with a magnification of 6000X instead of 400X.
Thanks to this magnification, the embryologist is able to select the sperm with the best morphology to fertilize the egg. For this reason, the IMSI technique is especially recommended for men with severe teratozoospermia, that is, with alterations in sperm morphology.
