There exist various types of miscarriages based on the appearance and status of the gestational sac. Based on these criteria, we can find 3 different types of miscarriage:
- Presence of gestational sac within the womb, but no fetal heartbeat can be found
- Empty gestational sac within the womb
- Presence of a gestational sac outside the womb, e.g. in the Fallopian tube
