Infertility of unknown origin, idiopathic or without apparent cause, accounts for 20% of infertility cases in Spain. Those patients who find themselves in this situation will start with assisted reproduction techniques such as programmed coitus and artificial insemination (AI).
If none of these reproductive options are successful and, in addition, the woman is over 36 years old, the general recommendation is to move on to in vitro fertilisation (IVF). In this way, it will be possible to evaluate the quality of the embryos and transfer the one that is classified as the best. In this way, the pregnancy rate of IVF is higher than that of AI or programmed intercourse.
