Caffeinated beverages should be taken into account not only during pregnancy but also when talking about fertility and infertility.
There are studies that seem to indicate that when women consume large quantities of coffee, an obstruction in the fallopian tubes could occur. Specifically, coffee seems to affect some tubular structures that help in the displacement of the ovum. If the oocyte is not able to move through the fallopian tube, the encounter with the sperm will not occur and, therefore, fertilization will not occur.
