When oocytes have been vitrified, the steps of ovarian stimulation and follicular puncture have already been performed previously. Therefore, if cryopreserved oocytes are used in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, the process will begin with oocyte devitrification.
Once the eggs are thawed, they will be fertilized using the ICSI technique. From here, embryonic development begins and the embryos will remain in culture for 3-5 days until their transfer or their vitrification.
