When a woman develops a fever after childbirth, it is not always indicative of puerperal infection. For this, the fever must exceed 38°C and appear the day after delivery or during the first 6 weeks.
The diagnosis of puerperal fever is made by physical examination, blood culture, urine culture and endometrial culture, among other complementary tests.
