Amniodrainage is a gynaecological technique that consists of aspirating amniotic fluid when a situation of polyhydramnios occurs. To do this, a puncture is carried out with the help of an ultrasound machine until the correct volume of amniotic fluid is obtained.

This procedure is not recommended after the 35th week of pregnancy, as it may pose a threat of premature birth.
Apart from reducing the volume of amniotic fluid, amniodrainage is also indicated when the pregnant woman has severe symptoms due to the high volume of amniotic fluid.
