Types of sperm morphology alterations

The spermatozoon consists of three distinct parts: head, neck or midpiece and tail. Thus, when the sperm morphology analysis is performed in the semenogram, each of these structures must be evaluated separately. In addition, each of these parts must be morphologically normal for the sperm to be scored as normal.

Therefore, in the study of sperm morphology it is possible to differentiate between different alterations in the head, in the midpiece or in the tail of the spermatozoon, some of which are represented in the image.
