According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the volume of semen per ejaculation must be greater than 1.5 mL to be considered normal. However, when this volume is lower, it is known as hypospermia.
Although a low sperm count is not a direct cause of male infertility, it can cause difficulty in achieving pregnancy. The reason for this is that it would be more difficult for sperm and egg to be found in the fallopian tubes for fertilization to take place.
