Anembryonic pregnancy occurs when there is implantation and the pregnancy test is positive, but no yolk vesicle or embryo development is observed. The ultrasound scan shows an empty gestational sac, with no fetus inside.
After the diagnosis of anembryonic pregnancy, the only possible treatment is to induce abortion and perform a curettage.
