Ovodonation is an assisted reproduction technique that is necessary in certain cases of female infertility.
It involves receiving oocytes donated by a young woman when the patient's own oocytes cannot be used or when they have a very low success rate.
In oocyte donation, the donated oocytes are fertilised with the patient's own sperm (although donor sperm is also possible). After a period of embryo development, generally 5 days, the embryo is transferred to the patient with the aim of achieving gestation.
