Assisted reproduction techniques allow a preimplantation genetic test (PGT) to be performed on embryos. This technique was previously known as preimplantation genetic diagnosis or PGD.
For this, it is necessary to perform an embryo biopsy on the embryos obtained through IVF. The cell or cells extracted are analyzed in search of genetic or chromosomal alterations, which will allow only healthy embryos to be selected for transfer to the patient's uterus.
