Intrauterine artificial insemination

In artificial insemination (AI), sperm are introduced into the woman's uterus so that they reach the fallopian tube where the ovum awaits them. There fertilization takes place and the subsequent transport of the embryo to the uterus. Therefore, this assisted reproduction technique is minimally invasive and fertilization occurs the same as in a natural pregnancy.

The steps of artificial insemination, in general, are the following:

  1. Ovarian stimulation in women.
  2. Semen training in the laboratory.
  3. Introduction of sperm into the uterus with an insemination cannula.

For an AI to be possible, it will be necessary for the woman to ovulate and not have an obstruction in the tubes. On the other hand, the male must have an adequate number of spermatozoa and with good mobility.
