The main assisted reproduction techniques are two: artificial insemination (AI), often referred to as intrauterine insemination or IUI, and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Choosing between former or the latter will depend exclusively on the cause of infertility, the age of the female, and the medical indications given in accordance with the estimated success rates for that particular case.
In general, IVF offers better success rates than IUI, although the cost of the procedure is more expensive, and often leads to higher levels of emotional stress in patients.
