Semen sample conditions for a semenogram

The seminogram is the most common male fertility test, since it allows to know if there is any alteration in the semen. For this, it is advisable to maintain a period of abstinence of 3-5 days. If the sexual abstinence is longer, it is possible that there is a large amount of dead sperm.

The semen sample for the semen analysis should be collected by masturbation in a sterile container and always under extreme hygienic conditions to avoid interference in the results. Once the ejaculate is collected in the jar, it will be sent to the laboratory for analysis. Here both macroscopic and microscopic parameters will be studied.
