Observing the characteristics of cervical mucus can serve as a woman's indicator of her most fertile days. This is because the appearance of the cervical mucus changes throughout the menstrual cycle due to varying hormone levels.
Thus, if the woman recognizes the appearance of the cervical mucus from the ovulatory period, she will be able to estimate that she is in her most fertile days, since these days correspond to the 3-4 days before ovulation and the day after.
However, having sexual intercourse on fertile days does not guarantee pregnancy.
