Once the drug has been reconstituted by mixing the powder and solvent vials, the woman will have to change the intramuscular needle of the syringe to a subcutaneous needle for the injection.
The skin is then pinched in the selected area of the abdomen and the needle is inserted at a 45º to 90º angle. Once inside the skin, the plunger is gently pressed until all the fluid has been introduced.
Finally, the needle is carefully removed and the area is pressed with a sterile gauze pad and massaged.
