One of the main reasons why a woman decides to resort to egg donation ivf is low ovarian reserve, i.e. having a very low number of eggs in the ovaries. This low ovarian reserve may be due to premature ovarian failure or advanced maternal age.
Other reasons why a woman needs donor eggs, even if they still have ovarian function, would be previous failures in IVF cycles or genetic abnormalities of her own eggs.
