When a multiple ectopic pregnancy is diagnosed, it is important to avoid rupture of the fallopian tube. This complication could lead to internal bleeding, shock, and even death of the patient.
For this reason, it is common for the woman to undergo surgery. When possible, this intervention will be performed laparoscopically and will consist of performing a salpingectomy, i.e. the removal of the fallopian tube(s).
However, if the tubes are in good condition, a salpingotomy could be considered. This technique would make it possible to eliminate the gestational sacs, while keeping the tube(s).
