Once a diagnosis is made of any endometrial or uterine abnormality, a hysteroscopy can be performed to treat it. To do this, a larger caliber hysteroscope is used than in diagnostic hysteroscopy and the patient is usually anesthetized.
Therefore, surgical hysteroscopy is indicated to remove polyps, correct uterine adhesions or perform a resection of uterine septa, among other practices.
