Epididymal inflammation, or epididymitis, is usually a condition that occurs in sexually active men between the ages of 19 and 35. Although the etiology of epididymitis is diverse, the possible causes of this inflammation are:
- Sexually transmitted infections.
- Bacterial infections caused by Escherichia coli and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, among other bacteria.
- Intake of certain drugs such as amiodarone.
However, epididymitis can also be caused by viral or even fungal infections, although these are more rare cases.
