What is endometrial hyperplasia?

Endometrial hyperplasia is an alteration that affects the inner layer of the uterus (i.e. the endometrium). Due to an excess or irregular amount of estrogens, the endometrium is excessively stimulated. As a result, it becomes thicker than it should.
