When ovulation does not occur or there are problems with ovulation, it usually leads to alterations in menstruation. However, on occasions, it may happen that menstruation is irregular, but pregnancy is not achieved. This is usually associated with:
- Occult ovarian failure, causing anovulation.
- An insufficient or shorter than normal luteal phase.
- Luteinised follicle syndrome.
