Risks of celiac disease in pregnancy

In women with celiac disease who have a controlled and adequate diet, there is no risk for pregnancy. However, this is not the case in women who have celiac disease, but it is not controlled.

In this case, the antibodies that are released after ingestion of gluten can cause recurrent miscarriages. In addition, these antibodies damage the placenta causing intrauterine growth retardation and low birth weight.
