When a woman with PCOS undergoes ovarian stimulation to try to get pregnant with IVF, the risk of developing Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) is greater due to the elevated amount of antral follicles present in her ovaries.
For this reason, the fertility specialist should adjust the dosage of hormonal medications adequately and monitor the progress more carefully through ultrasound scan as well as measuring estradiol levels in blood.
