Hi, I am an 18 year old college student from Cape Town and I’ve considered donating my eggs (tho for selfish reasons such as making some extra money to help pay for school) and I really just wanted to know two things:
1. On average how much could a donor get paid for their time and effort and if there’s other expenses regarding the donation that fall onto the donor?
2. Will this have any implications on future pregnancies for me? Because starting a family one day means everything to me.01/30/2018 at 8:41 amDear qaadi,
It’s important to remark that egg donors in South Africa are reimbursed a compensation of around R7000 for their time and effort. It’s not a payment for selling eggs, so you should not expect to gain some extra money for ti.
As for the implications on future pregnancies, you should not worry about this: donating eggs will not affect your fertility. If you didn’t donate these eggs, they would have been “wasted” in the form of your menstrual period anyway.
I hope I have replied to your queries,
Best wishes
