GnRH analogues are artificial molecules of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, i.e. GnRH. There are two types of GnRH analogues.
On the one hand, there are the GnRh agonists. These molecules have a high affinity for the GnRH receptor and have a longer half-life. When the GnRH agonist binds to the receptor, a release of gonadotropins occurs, causing the so-called flare-up effect.
On the other hand, another type of GnRH analog are GnRH antagonists. These molecules inhibit more directly after binding to the GnRH receptor. In this case, there is no flare-up effect.
