The hCG hormone can be administered exogenously, through subcutaneous injections, as a hormonal treatment. To produce this type of drug, hCG can be obtained from two different sources:
- urinary hCG, from the urine of pregnant women.
- recombinant hCG, obtained by genetic engineering.
However, the use of urinary hCG was left in the background with the appearance of recombinant hCG.
