Hysterosalpingography is a gynecological test that is included in the study of female fertility, as it allows for the evaluation of tubal patency. Based on its results, the specialist will be able to determine the cause of infertility and establish which assisted reproduction treatment is most appropriate.
If the fallopian tubes are patent, artificial insemination could be performed. However, if the fallopian tubes are not permeable, then in vitro fertilization (IVF) will be necessary.
Other possible indications for performing a hysterosalpingography include the study of women with menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. This gynecological test can also be performed to check the effectiveness of tubal ligation.
