Polycystic ovary syndrome, also known by its acronym PCOS, is an endocrine disorder that causes a hormonal imbalance. Androgen levels in women diagnosed with PCOS are higher than normal.
In addition, women with PCOS often have menstrual irregularities and anovulation since the regulation of the menstrual cycle does not function correctly.
