Anti-sperm antibodies, also known by their acronym ASA, are the most common cause of immunological infertility. The presence of these antibodies may be due to male or female causes.
For example, men with varicocele, seminal infections or testicular torsion, among other things, may develop anti-sperm antibodies and be detected in blood or semen.
In women, ASA may be due to sexually transmitted diseases or inflammation of the cervix (cervicitis).
