There are several studies that conclude that male smokers have poorer semen quality compared to men who do not smoke. However, there is also a relationship in the affectation depending on the amount of cigarettes consumed. Apart from decreasing semen quality, smoking also causes sperm DNA fragmentation.
Another factor that affects seminal quality is alcohol. Men who routinely drink large amounts of alcohol have poorer sperm quality, with lower sperm motility and lower seminal volume.
