JOFREFIV is a private clinic specialized in gynecology, obstetrics, assisted reproduction, and other areas related to reproductive health for both women and men. This center opened its doors in 2003, and its founder is José Juan Jofré Navarro.
The center has a multidisciplinary team of 14 professionals from different fields: gynecologists, embryologists, nurses, etc. They all provide personalized care to their patients. The medical director of JOFREFIV is Dr. Juan José Jofré Navarro.
This clinic not only carries out assisted reproduction treatments but also conducts diagnoses of ovarian, uterine, and cervical pathologies, as well as outpatient surgeries such as hysteroscopies, conization, and treatment of fibroids through radiofrequency ablation, among others.
If you need information on how to get to the clinic, either by public or private transport, you can access this link.
The treatments available at JOFREFIV, for both heterosexual couples as well as female couples or single women, are specified in the following table.
[clinica-tratamientos]Each of the fertility treatments mentioned above has a different cost due to the varying complexity of each.
If you are not yet sure which assisted reproduction treatment is most suitable for you and want to learn more, you can read about each of them in the following article: Assisted Reproduction Techniques.
In addition to all the assisted reproduction treatments mentioned above, JOFREFIV also offers its patients the following complementary techniques to increase the chances of treatment success:
The diagnostic tests carried out at JOFREFIV, according to online information, are as follows:
All areas of the JOFREFIV clinic are distributed over a 400 m2 space on a single floor. Below, you will find all the clinic’s facilities detailed, along with the resources and technology they have to perform assisted reproduction treatments.
As mentioned above, the JOFREFIV clinic is located on the ground floor and very close to El Corte Inglés and the Bus Station.
The entrance to JOFREFIV is accessible for people with reduced mobility, as it has no steps. In addition, the clinic’s entrance door, as well as the hallways and entrances to the different rooms, are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs without any problems.
The reception at JOFREFIV is located right at the main entrance of the clinic. There is a white desk with light blue decorations. On the desk, there are some plants to create a sense of calm and well-being for patients upon arrival.
The reception staff provides assistance to patients in Spanish and, if necessary, in English.
To the right of the reception is the waiting room. It is a single space furnished with three white armchairs separated by methacrylate panels. The entire waiting room has glass walls, although there are blinds to provide more privacy for patients.
The JOFREFIV waiting room has magazines, Wi-Fi, and a television to make the wait more pleasant, although the waiting time usually does not exceed 15 minutes. While patients wait for their consultation, images of embryos and information about the different assisted reproduction procedures are displayed.
Additionally, there is a separate waiting room for donors with a completely independent entrance. This ensures that no encounters occur between the recipient and her potential egg/sperm donor.
JOFREFIV has two medical consultation rooms. Each consultation room has its own examination area equipped with a gynecological examination table, a nursing cart, a storage unit, an ultrasound machine, and a full bathroom. In addition, there is a screen in the examination room for the patient to view the ultrasound.
One consultation room is equipped with a VOLUSON E6 ultrasound machine, while the other has a SAMSUNG H60. Both are state-of-the-art ultrasounds providing high-quality images.
The gynecologists at JOFREFIV are on call during weekends and public holidays when it is necessary to perform a procedure or an ultrasound check for assisted reproduction patients. However, general gynecology consultations are not provided.
Access to the surgical area is restricted with a numeric code. Once inside, there are several doors.
One is the “dirty” door where sterilization work is performed. This area is equipped with an autoclave and a centrifuge to sterilize all instruments.
Next is the gray door leading to the operating room itself. JOFREFIV’s operating room is large, covering 35 m2, and fully equipped with an operating table, instrument tables, monitor, a high-end ultrasound machine, hysteroscopy tower, anesthesia delivery system, defibrillator, and crash cart. The ultrasound machine in the operating room is a Samsung H6, the same as in the consultation rooms.
The operating room is directly connected to the IVF laboratory through an automatic door, which is open during egg retrievals.
Additionally, the corners of the walls and the floor baseboards in the operating room are rounded. The walls are covered with Vescom paper to prevent dirt accumulation. The operating room maintains positive pressure with filtered air using HEPA filters, activated carbon, and potassium permanganate. Therefore, the operating room is a fully clean and sterile environment.
Besides routine assisted reproduction procedures, the operating room at JOFREFIV can also accommodate other services:
The personnel present during all procedures include the gynecologist, anesthesiologist, nurse, and nursing assistant.
JOFREFIV has two separate laboratories, located adjacent to each other. Each laboratory is described in detail below.
This laboratory performs sperm analyses and processes semen samples for freezing. Among the procedures performed in this laboratory are:
The laboratory is equipped with a laminar flow hood, phase contrast microscope, three working incubators, and a centrifuge. This lab is not designed for infectious samples and has a sample storage bench.
This laboratory, directly connected to the operating room, is fully equipped for assisted reproduction techniques:
All furniture in the IVF laboratory is stainless steel. There are no windows, lighting is dim, corners and baseboards are rounded, walls are coated with epoxy, and the ventilation system is filter-controlled. These features ensure optimal embryo culture conditions and a completely sterile environment.
Embryo and egg cryopreservation is performed via vitrification in a small room within the IVF lab, where the two gamete and embryo banks are located. JOFREFIV also offers the possibility of performing laser embryo biopsy, although this is done externally. However, JOFREFIV embryologist Rocío Díaz is the one who performs the procedure.
JOFREFIV has two individual recovery rooms located next to the operating room. Patients recovering from surgical procedures, such as follicular puncture, do so in these rooms.
Each room has an adjustable bed, a beige chair for a companion, and a private full bathroom (without a shower). One recovery room also has a chair for pregnant patients during monitoring appointments.
Patients are offered juice and water while in recovery after surgery.
JOFREFIV does not have a dedicated semen collection room. Men providing a semen sample on-site do so in the recovery rooms. Resources available include magazines and Wi-Fi.
Once the sample is obtained, pressing a button signals the andrology lab. Lab personnel then collect the sample from the recovery room and proceed with semen analysis.
JOFREFIV has a small room for blood draws, measuring vital signs, and checking blood pressure.
This area contains only a chair and the necessary equipment. Nearby is the medication room, where all drugs used by nursing staff are stored.
JOFREFIV also attends to women and men who wish to become egg or sperm donors. Candidates must pass a psychological interview and medical tests. Both egg and sperm donors must meet the requirements of Spanish Law 14/2006 on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques.
Donors are scheduled at different times than general patients to avoid encounters, ensuring temporal separation. Donors also enter through a back door and do not wait in the same room, providing spatial separation.
Typically, donors are attended in one of the recovery rooms to minimize possible encounters.
The first consultation at JOFREFIV lasts around 35-50 minutes and involves the gynecologist and nursing assistant. Patients are usually advised to bring prior medical records.
The cost of the first visit at JOFREFIV is 100 euros, which is deducted from the final cost of the fertility treatment if pursued.
This first visit assesses the fertility of both members of the couple and the tests they have provided. A transvaginal ultrasound is performed to evaluate the uterus and ovaries, and a basal hormonal study (FSH, LH, Estradiol, PRL, and TSH on day 3 of the menstrual cycle) is requested to rule out endocrine anomalies affecting reproduction if not done previously. Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) testing may also be included to assess ovarian reserve.
If there is a male partner, he is scheduled for a semen analysis including motile sperm count (MSC).
Once all test results are obtained, the specialist provides a diagnostic orientation and determines the best reproductive option.
JOFREFIV does not offer initial visits via video call, preferring in-person visits to provide closer interaction and to allow patients to see the facilities.
JOFREFIV patients also have access to other medical specialties that can be very helpful during fertility treatment. For example, the clinic offers genetic and immunological counseling, although this service is provided by external personnel.
In addition, JOFREFIV has urology services, a medical committee for high-complexity cases, and specialized units for recurrent miscarriage, implantation failures, and endometriosis.
All these additional services at JOFREFIV involve an extra cost on top of the fertility treatment price.
