When the result of a seminogram is azoospermia, that is, there are no spermatozoa in the ejaculate, there still may be a possibility of obtaining spermatozoa. The patient can undergo a testicular biopsy and in the laboratory an attempt is made to recover some spermatozoa. This procedure is not painful and does not usually cause complications.
If sperm are recovered, they will be used in an IVF-ICSI treatment to try to achieve pregnancy.
