Many women with a high body mass index may find themselves with fertility problems, that is, difficulties when trying to get pregnant. In addition, pregnancy in an obese woman is associated with a higher risk of complications such as:
- Gestational diabetes.
- Preeclampsia.
- Spontaneous abortion.
- Premature labor
- Delivery by caesarean section.
On the other hand, a high maternal BMI could also have effects on the offspring, such as an increased risk of obesity.
