Women are born with a limited number of ovarian follicles, which are reduced until they are completely exhausted at the end of the reproductive stage, that is, menopause.
Therefore, the ideal age to have a baby is up to 35 years old, since this is the time of greatest female fertility. After the age of 35, there is a sharp decline in ovarian reserve and, therefore, in the chances of pregnancy.
Specifically, women are born with 1-2 million oocytes and when they reach puberty there are approximately 500,000 oocytes left. On the other hand, in adulthood, the number of eggs available is already 300,000 eggs.
