Complementary tests to a semen analysis

The semen analysis (seminogram) is the test par excellence to evaluate, in a basic way, male fertility. However, occasionally, it may be necessary to perform other complementary tests for a better evaluation of seminal quality.

For example, if the semen analysis shows high leukocyte values in the semen, then the specialist will determine if it is necessary to perform a semen culture in order to confirm a possible seminal infection.

Other complementary tests to the semen analysis that also provide information about semen quality are the study of sperm DNA fragmentation or sperm FISH.
