Salpingitis is a pelvic inflammatory disease that involves swelling of the fallopian tubes, either one or both tubes. The most common cause of salpingitis is a sexually transmitted infection, but it can also be caused by the use of an IUD or an endometrial biopsy.
In addition, there are some factors that increase the risk of developing this tubal condition, such as having multiple sexual partners or a history of PID.
