The sperm freezing technique has as one of its main indications the preservation of male fertility in cancer patients. However, they can also benefit from sperm cryopreservation:
- Men undergoing a vasectomy.
- Patients of assisted reproductive techniques with poor sperm quality.
- Transsexuals undergoing gender transition surgery.
Having frozen semen will be very useful in these cases, in case there is a need to use it in the future.
On the other hand, semen from sperm donors is also frozen. In this way, the safety of these samples in terms of the transmission of infectious diseases is guaranteed.
